If you are an event planner or in PR agency, read more to learn why hiring on-site calligrapher & engraver can elevate the experience of your events:
Everyone loves seeing their names written beautifully…especially right in front of them
Fonts are generic but calligraphy is very unique and elegant. Every single customer I have met are always in awe when they witness their names written elegantly.
Calligraphy is therapeutic to watch
There is something soothing about watching the strokes dances on surfaces as the artist writes the requested names or short messages for your guests. There are numerous satisfying calligraphy video compilations on the internet. Can you imagine how fun it is seeing it in person?
Increases traffic
Live calligraphy/engraving is still a novelty to a lot of people. The chain reaction of awe and surprises get people curious and want to be part of it. Line-ups will be a norm. I have repeatedly met guests who travelled far just to get something uniquely personalized by me.
Increases social media engagement
Excited guests will be in awe of seeing the unique process and will want to capture the moment right away and share to their social media platforms, which gives your brand higher social media engagement. This is truly the best way to have buzz-worthy events.
Memorable experience with take-home personalized items
Your guests will forever remember the experience. Experiential marketing “can bolster a lasting connection between customers and a brand” (Forbes). The lasting connection between your event and your guests is enhanced by the personalization experience right in front of their eyes. As they take the personalized item home, it becomes an artifact that symbolizes their connection with your brand.
Unique gift
Every item personalized by the artist will be unique. Everything is done by hand, every stroke will look unique. A professional calligrapher knows how to draw each letter differently. Two names will even look different. This will be highly appreciated for guests who value one-of-a-kind gift, a gift that is customized just for them.
A person is better than machine
A person can have emotional connection while personalizing your items, whereas a machine cannot. A professional calligrapher/engraver are able to engage with your guests while he/she is personalizing the items. Typically, I love learning about the meaning of the gift during their request. Guests love it when their stories are heard. It makes the experience so much better than just dealing with a machine.
It is crucial to hire an artist who have warm and engaging personality to maximize the personalization experience. I take pride of my ESFP (a.k.a. The Entertainer personality) that I always bring to all live events.
8. Versatility of surface
Curved surface? No problem! Most of the items I have personalized at live events have very unique shape, like perfumes and lipstick. The best thing with having a person is that it allows more flexibility than what a machine can do. Curved or flat, small or large, glass or metal. So many possibilities!
9. An artist can do it faster than a machine
An artist’s hand can engrave faster with deeper cut in beautiful calligraphy design that no machine can do.
10. Doesn’t take much space
A chair and sturdy table will do. Electrical outlet is not required except for leather engraving.
Bonus: 11. Some calligraphers can do illustration too
Some clients request specific illustration to be drawn or engraved on the item, which makes it even more exciting. See some samples below!
Whether it is a private event or public event that you are planning, having an on-site calligrapher/engraver can truly make your event a memorable one.
