/When you think of Valentine’s Day in Toronto, the mind immediately goes to the elegance of Yorkville. This year, I had the absolute pleasure of partnering with Ferragamo at their stunning Yorkville boutique for an exclusive retail activation that pushed the boundaries of traditional live sketching.
The Mission: Live Styling Through Art
Unlike a standard portrait session, my task for this event was a creative deep dive. I was commissioned to live-style guests into Ferragamo’s latest Ready-To-Wear (RTW) collection through my sketches.
Instead of simply drawing what the guests were wearing, I reimagined them in the brand’s sophisticated silhouettes, bold textures, and iconic Italian craftsmanship. It was a seamless blend of personal styling and fine art.
Here was how the day unfolded:
Creative Freedom: Most guests gave me total "carte blanche" to dress them on paper. I looked at their personal vibe and matched them with pieces from the Ferragamo runway that would best suit their aesthetic.
Collaborative Design: A few fashion-forward guests had specific pieces from the new collection they were eyeing, allowing us to collaborate on their illustrated look.
Fast-Paced Artistry: Retail events require speed without sacrificing quality. I managed to sketch 40 unique individuals, making this one of my busiest and most rewarding live sketching retail events in Toronto to date.
